Yiming Yang (b. 1995) is an installation and new media artist based in Shanghai. Her work advances the post-Anthropocene perspective by combining organisms (plants, animals, and humans), everyday objects, and machines to explore how these symbiotic relations interact to shape human subjectivities and psychologies. Yiming employs technology to construct simulacra of living entities, aiming to establish new communication channels between machinery and organisms. Her surreal and ethereal environments invite audiences to reflect on the relationship between virtuality and reality, technology, and religion.
Yiming is currently the owner of Yimin Art Technology Co., Ltd. She holds an MA in Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art (2020). She has exhibited at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing (Beijing , 2023); Ws Space x Shanghart(Shanghai, 2023); The 1st Annual Metaverse Art @ Venice, (Online, 2022); Himalayas Museum, (Shanghai, 2021); Shibuya Parco, (Tokyo, 2021); Centre Pompidou, (Paris, 2020); Tate Modern (London, 2017).
